A Day Trip to Asian Civilisation Museum,The Fullerton Heritage Gallery and National Gallery Museum Singapore.

Thank you for taking your time to read on our team's blog.  Today, we would like to share with you the journey and the knowledge that we had on our 1 day trip to The Asian Civilisation Museum and National Gallery Museum Singapore. I believe that most of us are not aware where is the location of these 2 heritage museum. Not to worry, we will share with you on how to get there and what are the things that you can see inside the Museum.


There are various ways on how to get there. But our recommendation would be MRT. This is because these two Museums are located nearby Raffles Place and within City Hall MRT. For The Asian Civilisation Museum, you can simply take the train and alight at Raffles Place MRT. After that, just look for exit H and once you exit the building, you can just walk towards The Fullerton Hotel. Once you see The Fullerton Hotel, you can just turn left and walk towards the Cavenagh Bridge.

Firstly of course, you will need to purchase the admission tickets. Below are the rates for the admission fees.

There are also Food and Beverage available in this Museum. For example, Empress which provide fine dinning experience and Prive that sells small bites such as sandwiches.

After you purchase the ticket, you can just walk straight and turn to your right for your first exhibition. In this Atlas of Mirror room, you will have a clearer view of the Past of Absences of Panglima Awang.



He was believed to be the first person to circumnavigate the world. He was also known as Enrique of Malacca or Henry the Black, who was Ferdinand Magellan's slave and interpreter.



This was a set of Panglima Awang's attire that you can see in The Asian Civilisation Museum Level 1, Atlas of Mirrors Singapore Biennale 2016.


If you really would like to know more about the Panglima Awang's history, there are a few portrait, statues of an imagined Enrique, together with video documentation and artifacts available in this exhibition room.




After this exhibition room, you can just walk straight to this door that will lead you to the Trades Gallery.


Sometimes the door is closed like it is locked. But not to worry, it is an automatic door and there is no pressure for you to push the door.

In this Trade Gallery, you can have the view of all the heritage treasures that take place in the ancient times across the Asia. Normally, the merchants will carried valuable goods with them during their journey from their mainland to another. Once they reached the new land, they will settle in trading of goods which will leave a good impact to the new land. By doing so, they will be able to spread the new idea, new culture and introduced their religion. Below are the pictures that shows the valuable goods that are open for trades.


Next is the China Ancient Trading goods. These items are originally came from China and has been preserved for a few decades. For example:


A vase that was made in China in the 1735. It was prepared in clay, shaping and glazing bowls with a little bit of beams at the side.

After the Trade Gallery, you can walk to the Tang Shipwreck at Level 1 to discovered a shipwreck that happened in 1998 at Belitung Island in the Java Sea. This exhibition room contains a remarkable and ancient ceramic that was being produced back then during the Tang Dynasty time . This exhibition room also contained of exclusive gold and silver. The Tang Shipwreck happened in the back then is also because of the strategic location of Singapura in the Asia.

A short trip to The Fullerton Hotel Heritage Gallery.


After we visits The Asian Civilisation Museum, we take this opportunity to take a look of The Fullerton Hotel Heritage Gallery. Do you know that from 1928 to 1996, the Fullerton Building housed was known as Singapore's first  General Post Office along with other colonial government officer? Well, this statement is completely correct.


On the side note, The Fullerton Hotel Heritage Gallery is a free admission for everyone. Yes, you got it right, there is no fee for everyone. The nearest MRT for this heritage gallery would be Raffles Place MRT. You can just enter The Fullerton Hotel lobby and turn to the left where you can see the sign of The Fullerton Hotel Heritage Gallery.

The red pillar post boxes were first introduced in 1873 and served as a legacy to the British Colonial era. This red post box is located in The Fullerton Heritage Gallery.

The Fullerton Heritage Gallery also provide books as a display items of the Mr Lee Kuan Yew Fullerton Rallies on a different year.



These are the available section that you can take a look of the history of The Fullerton Hotel through the Fullerton Rallies. There is also a digital TV that plays consistently of the Rallies video.


There is also a technology that you can see the full view of The Fullerton Hotel transformation from years to years.

National Gallery Museum Singapore.

Our last destination for the day would be the National Gallery Museum Singapore.

National Gallery Museum is an accessible path to the Gallery's Coleman Street entrance is available along the Art Connector at North Bridge Road. The Art Connector begins at City Hall MRT Exit B, and can be accessed via an elevator at Exit D. There is also a drop off and pick up area available for those who are wish to take the taxi. It is also accessible for the disabilities as the environment is wheelchair friendly.


Before you proceed to view the exhibitions, you need to get the admission ticket at B1. Below are the prices for Singaporean, PR Singapore as well as Non-Singaporean.

National Gallery Museum also provides shopping and dinning experience for the tourists and visitors. You can simple visits the Foods and Beverage or shops if you want after the tour. For example, Gallery & Co,sells curated art and designed products alongside the Gallery's exclusive brand of foods, goods and books. On the other hand, there are plenty restaurant available to satisfied those hungers. For example, Aura Restaurant at Level 5 which provides Italian cuisine and Saha Signature Restaurant & Bar provides modern Indian cuisine by Chef Patron Abhijit Saha at Level 1.


Gallery & Co that sells merchandise to cater to the tourists and visitors that visits the Museum. This can be found at Level 1 near the entrance.

This statue of Queen Victoria is located at the front of the Museum entrance. It was commissioned by the Chinese Community of Singapore on her Golden Jubilee in 1887. 

You can experience and learn about the older days life by listening to the headset that is available at Level 2 DBS Singapore Gallery, Gallery 2.


These are the section of portrait to shared with us of the different races. Visitors can view this incredible art at Level 2 DBS Singapore Gallery, Gallery 2.


There is an old Television for the visitors to have a look and to experience how does it feels to watch a movie in the older days. This can be seen at at Level 2 DBS Singapore Gallery, Gallery 2.


This Social Table can be found at Level 2 along Gallery 1,2 and 3.This social table is an electronic device that you can simply click and view the art portrait along with the artist named and year.




For example, Picking Portrait was being established in the 1955 by Tay Kok Wee.



There is also an activity where the staff will encourage you to participate yourself in drawing. You can draw anything that come to your mind! Foods, Bags, Make up, you named it ! This can be found at Level 3 Gallery 6 UOB Southeast Asia Gallery. This is the example of the drawing. After you are done, simply display it on the frame on the wall :)


Overall, we had an enjoyable learning experience with Asian Civilisation Museum, The Fullerton Hotel Heritage Gallery and National Museum Singapore. We had learned the heritage and the meaning of an art as well as to preserved them for the long run usage. Not only that, by visiting these museum, we gained knowledge about the life back then, the history of the modern Singapore and to appreciate arts in today's presence.
